September 14, 2008 Getting started for the new camellia season. A panel of experts will be on hand to answer questions and give advice on how to get your plants in tip-top shape for the coming camellia camellia Mobile Botanical Gardens season. Gibberelic acid will be on sale for Club members. Make a list of all the things you want help with, or information on: With well over a hundred years of experience between them, we think our

October 12, 2008 Growing Camellias in a greenhouse- Slide Show of new & favorite varieties. Jim
Smelley will reveal the secrets to growing camellias in a protected
environment. Then Elaine
Mobile Botanical Gardens Smelley will show slides of new camellia cultivars and of varieties that do well our area. Don't forget your notepads and pencils - loads of information for you.
November 9, 2008 Native American Plants in the Camellia Family. Dr. Bill Bennett will give a talk on the varieties of native U. S. plants that are related to the camellia. This will be a most interesting Mobile Botanical Gardens program, introducing many of us to a whole new range of plants to complement our camellia collections. Do bring pen and paper to take notes! December 14, 2008 Christmas Social & Auction. All members will partake of a festive holiday meal, Ham turkey, dressing & gravy will be provided by the Club with side dishes and desserts being provided by members. Mobile Botanical Gardens Jim Oates will run our Holiday Auction with 15 varieties of special camellias, plus other
Christmas
items. Come join the fun!.
January 11, 2009 Preparing for our Camellia Show. Show Chairman Walter Creighton will explain who and what it takes to put on our big annual Camellia Show. Bring five of your best blooms and take part in a Mobile Botanical Gardens Mini-Show. You will find out all you need to know to win & how a Show operates. Volunteers are needed for a multitude of easy jobs. We've got something to suit everyone, work-wise and
time-wise.
January 17/18, 2009 69th Annual Camellia Club of Mobile Camellia Show. View a showcase of spectacular blooms from across the South. Choice camellia plants and other items will be available for sale to benefit the Colonial Mall club. Bring your best blooms to compete in the Show. Remember that there are three very nice trophies to be won by novices who are members of our
Club!.
February 8, 2009 Propagating Camellias. One of the most popular programs we put on - there will be hands-on Mobile Botanical Gardens demonstrations of grafting, air layering, growing cuttings, and planting seeds. We'll show you the best ways to increase your camellia collection. March 8, 2009 The best soil in which to grow camellias.. Ed Tunnell, retired County Agent, will talk on Mobile Botanical Gardens the various soils in our region and methods for increasing and maintaining healthy soil fertility in order to get the best
from our plants. Great information here!
April 19, 2009 Caring for your camellias through the South's Summer. A panel of experts will be on hand to Foley Civic Center answer questions and give advice on how to keep our favorite plants well during the coming hot weather. There will also be a camellia photo show with awards. Election of Officers and Board for 2009-2110 is also scheduled.
